Since upgrading test complete to 15.51.4 the clickitem action to select options from drop downs is no longer working correctly and is selecting a different value to the one specified in the test. To check its not just how I have created the action I have also recorded the steps and in the test it shows the correct value that I selected but then when you run it you get the tool selecting the wrong option again so testcomplete is obviously having issues with the indexing for the drop downs. To make sure its not our site I have also tried other sites and get the same problem. Has anyone experienced the same issue and know when its likely to be resolved? I raised a support ticket 7 days ago and have had no response at all!!

This has been recognized as an issue previously. My experience has been the same. I really hope that when the chrome/edge patch is deployed this clickitem issue is resolved as well. We have testing for a major release this week, and all I can say is TestComplete doesn't work. Management will not be happy if all the investment in automation falls flat in the biggest moment.

We had tests break due to this as well. I had to re-write test methods to use the "keys" method instead. This is only a patch. I've raised a ticket for it.

Raised a ticket too but seem to get zero response on support tickets at the moment. Over a week and nothing back on it. Unable to use other methods to get it to work have tried and also don't want to have to go changing a load of test scripts and then change them back again once resolved

Yep Clickitem still doesn't work. Be nice to have an update on that issue.

Subject to my previous post with the click followed by clickitem no longer works after updating to TestComplete 15.51.18.7 !!! I have had to reactivate my original workaround using the keys method which will not detect changes to list items so only temporary. Can you please fix this issue as it’s key functionality.I am getting increasing dissatified with the level of issues with testcomplete as I am having to spend an increasing amount of time in test maintenace rather increasing coverage.

I got a workaround response to try from support. Use the click method first followed by clickitem.

The clickitem on the combobox does not work for us either. It works for the first item, but it can't select a new item after.

ClcikItem doesnt seem to work, Its disappointing to see so many defects with TestComplete recently. The workaround mentioned in this thread of click before clickItem doesnt seem to work either. Awaiting solution.

I'm having the same issues. The ClickItem method is so flaky now.
I have managed to find workarounds for the ones that won't work, but it's far from ideal. And as has been mentioned here, I shouldn't be wasting my time revisiting my tests to fix something that wasn't broken.

I was going to push management to look into adding the API tool, but I'm hesitant to do this with all of the issues we're dealing with here.

There is a new version of TestComplete v15.52.2.7 which might resolve your issue.

  We just moved over from v14 to the version shown above (v15.52.2.7) and this issue was the first thing we noticed. Since then we have reverted back to v14 as this stops us from testing our software. We have no plans to try to change the code to get around it, even if there is a viable workaround. Instead we would expect SmartBear to resolve this and release a new version ASAP.
