TestComplete not running correctly on new VM

I have been running TestComplete and TestExecute on a virtual machine for a while now without any problems, I moved to a different virtual machine on a different host and not TestComplete and TestExecute are acting very strange, doing things like waiting several minutes between test actions, or not even continuing running the test after a certain point. The same test works fine on the other VM and the software that I am testing works fine and even runs faster on the new VM (that is to be expected since the new VM has more processing power). There are no other VMs currently running on the host. Has anyone experienced something similar and can point me in the right direction on fixing this? Both VMs are on VMware ESXi servers, Both are running Windows 7 32 bit, Both are Intel Xeon processors (The new one is an e5405, the old one is an e5320). I see nothing indicating any resource issues on the virtual host or the virtual machine.

  • I found the issue on this. Apparently the performance counters was causing very slow performance on the new VM. Still not sure why that would happen.

  • Hi Jeff,

Don't you want to try investigating this issue? Our R&D team is interested in resolving the performance issue without stopping usage of some features. If you are willing to help us, could you please contact our Support team and provide them with the problematic project where the Performance Counters are set?

  • I am interested in getting this issue resolved I was just posting that I found a workaround so that I can at least run the tests since that was my biggest concern at the time.
