Can't delete ReportGenerator file during upgrade TC

I have 2 TC licenses. Each license for each laptop. TC popped up msg for upgrading to a newer version. I was able to upgrade on one laptop but not the other. During upgrading, it tried to uninstall and start deleting some files until ReportGenerator file. It errored out with msg that it can't delete the reportGenerator file. I have admin access on my laptop. Does anyone know is this exist bug for TC and how to solve this issue?

     I didn't think about the process being stuck.  Good one.  πŸ‘ I hope that does it trick.

    You may have an instance of Report generator running and you can validate that by checking your Task Manager for process name. In any case to avoid any file locking issues I suggest that you:

    1. Reboot
    2. UN-Install
    3. Install

    Such steps should go around any file locking issues and it differ from upgrading an existing install as it will restore TestComplete UI customization to default.

    From the command prompt, run the following,

    ReportGenerator.exe --cleanse --stop-monitoring

    Then, download the TC installation from your SmartBear portal, restart your machine, then install.

    Hello aprather,

    The most common solution is to un-install the through add-remove programs and the install a fresh copy of the new version.

    If that fails then I recommend contacting support and opening a test case.  This caqn be done in the Help menu of TC or via a web link....

      I would also check to ensure the file exists and is not flagged read only and the rights are correct even though you are an admin it doesn't hurt in case its a group policy thing but I doubt that.  πŸ™‚
