Unable to click on item present on Context menu.

I have recorded a Keyword test which select button ( Dev x control). It prompts context menu from which i can select one of the option.



But while re playing it failed and Test complete displayed  error ' The Window is invisible and thus can not be activated'. Due which my test failed.



I observed the image recored in Test Visualizer, still it failed while playing the recorded test.



Any one help me ?

    Strange behavior of Test complete. I troubleshoot the same. And it is found that



    For two different context menu in my aplication when we view it in Object Browser it points to same Object !.

    In one of my previous step of the application there is one context menu. ( Find the attachment 1).  From Keyword Test > Right click > Show in Object Browser.



    Here it displayed the object and its image. ( Object1)



    Now I right click on the my step where it failed to click the items of the context menu > Right click > Show in Object Browser.



    Here it also displayed the same object i.e. ( Object1) even though both contect menus are different.



    Can any one help me out  ?

    Hello Megha,


    The "The Window is invisible and thus cannot be activated" error and the fact that the same object is highlighted in the Object Browser for two different menus are likely to be caused by ambiguous object recognition.

    The mapping criteria specified for menus in your tested application do not allow TestComplete to select the menu explicitly.

    Please open the Name Mapping editor and check the criteria specified for your menu objects. You can try to modify the criteria or add more criteria to avoid issues with object recognition. For information on how to modify name mapping criteria, please see the Modifying Mapping Criteria help topic.


    By the way, as I can see it in your screenshots, menus in your tested application are recognized as windows. Do you have the Microsoft Controls Support plug-in installed and enabled in TestComplete? You can check it in the list in the File | Install Extensions dialog.

    Hi Julia,



    yes the Microsoft Control support is Enable. Please find the attached screen shot. But how to find if 'Micosoft control support' plug in is installed or not. In Control panel I didn't found any such program installed.

    I had Windows 7 and  . Net framework is in built with it. Shall i explicitly need to install Microsoft Contros suport Plugin ?

    Megha,


    The Microsoft Controls Support plug-in is a TestComplete plug-in. It allows TestComplete to work with Microsoft controls including main menus and context menus.

    You already have this plug-in installed and enabled. It is listed in the Install Extensions dialog (the one on your latest screenshot).

    Sorry for confusing you.


    I only asked you to check whether this plug-in is installed and enabled in TestComplete, because menu actions in your tests are recognized as on-screen actions (this may happen if that plug-in is disabled).

    Since the plug-in is enabled, that is not the case.


    Could you please specify whether you use custom menu components in your tested application? What is the class name of your menu controls? Are they descendants of the System.Windows.Forms.ContextMenuStrip class or some other class?

    Hi Julia, Please find the attached screen shot for the script and its Mapped object.



    Yes you are correct its recorded as WindowForm  instead of Menu. What is the solution for this ?

    Could you please let me know the class name of the menu controls in your application under test? The class name is specified by the control's ClrFullClassName property - you can find it in the Object Browser. Is it System.Windows.Forms.MenuStrip, System.Windows.Forms.ToolStrip, System.Windows.Forms.ContextMenuStrip or some other?
