Tips: Chrome 14

I found that if you start chrome using:

chrome.exe  --force-renderer-accessibility

It's possible to access most html elements using MSAA *

The same is true for Opera, but there is no need to use any additional command-line parameters :)

I wonder if similar techniques can be used for folks who are trying to test with the constantly changing versions of Firefox?  They just released FF 7 and now TC 8.60 won't recognize components.  MSAA may be the way to go with FireFox 7 as well... anyone try it yet?

  • Hi Robert,

Though using MSAA may be a workaround, it's not easy to create web tests with MSAA, when compared to using built-in browser support in TestComplete.

We are already working to implement support for Firefox 7, and expect it to be a part of the next TestComplete update (if everything goes as expected).

Alex, have you considered other possibilities to support Firefox browser?

Now that Firefox is updated every month, it become more difficult to support the latest version and newest version of TestComplete will always support an old version of Firefox.

  • Hello Gennadiy,

This is definitely a hot topic for us. So, we will certainly have to do something about this.

However, I can't share any specific plans right now.
  • Has there been any progress concerning the support for Chrome, Opera or Safari browsers in TestComplete? I mean adding these browsers as supported browsers to TC. There's been demand for it quite a long time.
  • Hello Jean,

Chrome support is what we are considering to implement in the near future. No specific time frames yet.

As for Opera and Safari, we are tracking the number of requests for their support, but I can't share any specific plans so far.
