This sees to happen when I use the object browser and click the highlight on screen button, I am working on a remote server and it is casuing the session to crash!

Which exactly TestComplete 8 version are you using? If it's not v. 8.70, I'd suggest that you update to it. Also, please try working around the problem by applying tips from the Automated Test Performance Tips article.
Besides that, could you please check whether the problem can be reproduced in TC 9.10?
