TC 9.31 to TC 10.30 instructions

I currently have TC and TestExecute 9.31 and use floating and node-locked licenses. I am looking for instructions on how to go update my PCs, Projects and Licenses to get everything from 9.31 to 10.30.

Found lots of information, but no step by step process. A couple questions:

  • Does SmartBear license manager need updated.

  • Can I have the 9.31 and 10.30 floating licenses installed at the same time. Its going to take time to update everything and don't want all my PCs dead in the water while I am doing the udpates.

  • Hi Mark,

There is no strict rule that you have to update to the License Manager utility shipped with TestComplete 10. However, we recommend that you install the latest LM utility version as some changes and improvements are implemented there.

As for using TC 9 and TC 10 at a time, it's possible only while you are migrating your tests. Once you are sure that the migration is completed, and the tests are executed fine on the new TC version, you need to uninstall TC 9 and deactivate its license.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

I planned to use the silent mode to install TestComplete and TestExecute 10. I tried this on one PC and it worked fine.

What should I do with TC9? It is still installed. It appears that TC9 and TC10 are treated as two completely different applications on the PC. I was expecting TC9 to get uninstalled during the process.

Is there any way to uninstall TC9 using the silent mode? is there any harm in leaving TC9? Once I update all my projects to TC10 the TC9 version is really worthless so I would prefer to uninstall it and uninstall TestExecute 9 during the silent mode install of TC10.
