Cross-browser testing not working with Firefox 16.

IE and Chrome expose exactly the same tree, as children of a Browser object, but Firefox 16 is completely different, and Firefox is not recognized as a browser but as normal process.

I understand there are patches for Firefox and Chrome, and Chrome 22 works peachy in TestComplete 9.10, but there is still no patch for Firefox, now a full month behind release (it was officially released october 9th...). Will Firefox testing always be lagging this far behind? Ideally when my application's users start using the new browser version it should already be in test. Is there a particular reason why every single version needs a patch?

Well, after working some more on the IE and Chrome side of things, Firefox mysteriously started to be properly recognized as a browser. I have no idea what fixed it, but now it's working.

  • Hi Hugo,

Support for Firefox 16 is implemented in TestComplete 9.10 (there is no need to install an additional patch). As for the "mysterious" issue resolving, it's difficult to say why that happened. Maybe the Firefox Support plug-in wasn't enabled in TestComplete...
