15.79 - Any Issues? Chrome?

Hello - Time for our quarterly TestComplete upgrade to the latest 'stable' version.  We are currently on 15.75.

Has anyone run into any issues with 15.79?

Also - Related to Chrome - we noticed that any Chrome Version over 137 is causing us issues as the 'AI Mode' keeps popping up and messing with our scripts.

Is anyone else experiencing this either with 15.75 or above versions?

Hello RichBopp,  I did a search for 15.79 on this form but nothing significant came up.  It only came out this month on the 18th.

    Check these release notes...

As for the AI issue if you don't want 'Self Healing' in your mapped objects, if this is what is messing with your scripts, disable it.  You may need to address your mapping in other ways to make it less brittle however.  This is my first thought.  Could you provide an example of how AI is messing with your scripts?

  • Hello Scot1967.  Thank you for responding.

I too haven't found any reports of significant issues with 15.79 - but bad experiences in the past always leave me a bit nervous.  It's good to hear nothing significant has been reported as of yet.

As to our issues with 'AI Mode' - I'm referring to Chrome's AI Mode not something in TestComplete.

The most common issue we're running into is the AI Mode activating itself and asking us if we want to "Ask Google about this page - ......." which is taking focus off the page and killing our script -

I have found no means of disabling AI Mode in Chrome other than to use a pre-AI Mode version - which is 137.  Which is fine for now - but eventually we will need to upgrade our version of Chrome.

    Is this something you've encountered?

For a standard Google Chrome browser, you can disable the "AI Mode" button and other experimental AI features through the browser's flags. There are multiple AI features and I have not tried the following:

      1. Open a new tab and type chrome://flags/ in the address bar, then press Enter.
      2. In the "Search flags" box, type AI Mode Omnibox entrypoint.
      3. Click the drop-down box next to this flag and select Disabled.
      4. You can also search for and disable related flags, such as NTP Compose entrypoint to remove the AI button from the New Tab Page search box.
      5. After changing the settings, click the Relaunch now button that appears at the bottom of the screen.

Keep in mind: these are experimental flags. Google might change or remove them in future updates β€” so this solution may not always stick.

      Oh, got it.  πŸ‘πŸΌ

  • I am not able to link DevOps test cases in execution plan anymore in TC15.79 version so need to downgrade it.
Note: Downgrading TC to 15.78 version resolved my issue.
