Android Xamarin : Unable to instrument application

Hi,

 

I'm having problems with my Xamarin Android APKs. I can't instrument them. When i try to add a new application, during the "Analyse the application" phase, nothing happens. For Window, TestComplete is not responding.

 

With classic Android APK, i don't have this problem

Hi Alex,

 

In the guideline for instrumenting Android Application, there is a note telling "Xamarin applications can be instrumented in TestComplete only."

So i think it's a dead end with Xamarin Studio Robot Sad

Thank you for mentioning the note.

It this a blocker for you?

It should be possible to instrument the application either from TestComplete UI or with the help of code if you like to have it to be automated for, say, your CI environment (https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/app-testing/mobile/android/preparing/instrumenting-a...).

Is your app Xamarin.Android or Xamarin.Forms? TestComplete supports the former (release builds only) but not the latter.

 

Also make sure your app uses a supported API Level.

Same problem! The "Analyse the application" step is neverending.

Hi Helen,

 

It's an Xamarin.Android apk and the API Level is supported. 

 

Alex & Helen > One very very strange thing : after more than 50 tries, i have managed  to instrument one apk (i didn't do anything different than the previous tries). But it was a one shot. It's not working anymore (with the same pattern). It's making me crazy!
