In the guideline for instrumenting Android Application, there is a note telling "Xamarin applications can be instrumented in TestComplete only."
So i think it's a dead end with Xamarin Studio :robotsad:

It should be possible to instrument the application either from TestComplete UI or with the help of code if you like to have it to be automated for, say, your CI environment (https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/app-testing/mobile/android/preparing/instrumenting-apps/scripts.html).
