Automation of Progress Openedge Application using Test Complete

Question

Hello,I am trying to map objects from the ProgressOpenedge application and run a test using testcomplete. The problems I am facing are- All objects have been given uinque property names by the developer (for example a text box has a name &amp; label property pupulated) but even then in TestComplete I see it as ("Edit" ,3) - Looks like TC cant access its properties. How can I?- OpenEdge Grids can be accessed but no way to retrieve data from it, With what other way I can retrieve from a desktop application like this where TC can identify the grid but cant access data from it?ThanksPravin

HelloUsing standard MSAA and UI Automation interfaces, I was able to automate the application. Yes, you have to rely on some unreliable properties like heights and widths but it does work fine.CheersPravinHi Pravin,I am faced with the same challenge as you had regarding TestComplete and Progress Frames.Can you tell me is there much configuration required to use the MSAA and UI Automation interfaces with TestComplete ?Also Can you tell me if you have found your scripts to be reliablie? Hi,TC is able to work with Progress applications only in black-box mode (using coordinate-based actions). Currently, there's no special support for them. However, you can try using standard MSAA and UI Automation interfaces to work with non-supported applications. Also, TC supports Text Recognition which can help you to access text displayed in your application.
