The idea is quite simple, being able to pause a test that is running in TestExecute. I know that you're supposed to be debugging in Testcomplete and that it's so people don't get licenses of TestExecute for development, but being able to pause a tests would be a big plus as some of our tests are very long to run and it would be nice to see if there is a problem on the environment without disturbing tests that are running. I don't think this would be hard to implement from the SmartBear team and it would really help our day to day. All of our QC Devs already have a licencse for TestComplete, but we would really need this to be more productive as we will currently wait for a test to be done to do validations on environments. Thanks L-P

If you work with two monitors, for example, it would be nice to move the indicator object to another point.

It was veeeeery painful to find the root cause of one error in mobile Android application because programmer doesn't have Object Spy in his computer so he had to create at least 15 builds of application in order to find out what is causing problem and when new version of app was created I had to verify with Object Spy if it is OK or not. So standalone Object Spy tool would be greatly appreciated. Since this tool is already created in TestComplete I think that it should not be huge effort.

Based on http://community.smartbear.com/t5/Getting-Started-with/Filter-out-events-from-the-log/td-p/102077 and a lot of similair questions, why not make it possible to be able to specify (both in UI and code) what log record types to export?
Possible use cases:
-- All record types are not selected - this will export just a log tree. Might be useful to provide a quick overview of the test run result for the management;
-- Only checkpoints are selected - this will export log tree with checkpoints. - Might be useful for some formal document when the evidence of test success is required;
-- All record types except Events are selected - a kind of 'regular' log export that can be sent to QA managers/team members;
-- All record types including Events are selected - this is a 'developers' version of log export intended for detailed investigation by test developers in case of test errors reported during test run.

As stated in this feature request, we work agile and the tester gets new applications versions (almost) on a daily basis.
The tester does not know which objects have been changed/deleted. And does not know which controls (object) are new.
This feature request is to enhance TestComplete with a feature:
It is to implement a 'scan' (or update namemapping feature) to scan the updated application so that the namemapping gets updated according to the updated application:
new objects are placed in the namemapping;
changes done in existing objects get updated in namemapping;
deleted objects are removed from namemapping.
After that the tester runs the script and it runs with no errors (because all changes are reflected in the namemapping prior to the test run), and also (but this is really a dream coming true), TestComplete marks the new but-not-yet-tested controls (in the Visualizer images for example). So that the tester can update the testscripts to new objects get tested as well. This is something like the current "Map object from screen" function, but with the difference that it scans the whole application (or screen based), and reflects the Name mapping repository automatically as well.
I realize this is a rather big feature request but I think allows Smartbear to become real market leader in test automation!!

Hi,
As the Test Items tree is the primary means for tests organizing, it will be pretty handy if you guys implement an analogue of the Browser Loop and Data Driven Loop operations that can be put at any location within Test Items tree (i.e. as a root item or as some sub-node) and handle execution if its child items.
To make things even more perfect, those analogues should be parameterized (via e.g. Project Variables) - i.e. it should be possible to dynamically specify what, say, browsers must be included in the Browser Loop analogue.
Thanks,
/Alex

Hi all, I love distributed testing in TC. However, setting it up can be a bit confusing. Ideally there could be some kind of simplified wizard for setting up the various configurations. Most of the trickery comes from: - enabling/disabling the various Windows security measures e.g. firewall, opening ports, etc. - pointing at the correct source directories - even if you are copying from the master it can be confusing to setup the slave directories - which tests will execute Just an idea. When it works it's great! Setting it up however, whenever I have to do it, is always a bit trickier than IMHO it needs to be. m

I have some improvements to mention, in the Logs tab of TestComplete:
1. Currently, the Logs only display graphical results of Projects and Project Suits.
If you run keyword tests, script tests, unit tests, etc, no graphs are displayed.
I would like to have graphs on all runned tests, selectable by type (Keyword tests, Script tests, Unit tests).
2. In the grid above currently you cannot filter on test types (Keyword tests, scripts).
Please include a column to filter on test types. And (if possible) generate the graph according to the selection made.
3. Insert a title above the bar, to clarify what the graphs represents: Project suite runs, Project runs, Keyword tests (if implemented, etc).

My wish is just to add a value between 1 and 100 to the compare function parameters. It represents the percentage of similitude of the images : in many cases images are not exactly the same but are similar enough to be considered equal. If the calculated similitude of the 2 images is equal or superior to the parameter, then it returns true, else false.

TestComplete currently allows to post bug info to Jira. However this is limited to description, testcomplete log (as Mht file only), and system info. A great feature for integration with Jira, however it would be very nice if this feature could be extending with ability to log attachments to the bug/issue, like: test reference material (like word files, excel files, other text files etc), so it would be great if this screen (see attachment) would be extended with a Browse button to search for documents, so that files can be attached to the issue. Also, include the option (checkbox) to pack all the files to one single archive.

In JIRA we have mandatory/optional fields. Can you please remove the mandatory fields that you are requiring in TestComplete, and make this configurable so we can match what is in JIRA? Ideally, every field that is available in JIRA should be available in TestComplete. This way when we attempt to post a defect to JIRA those required fields that we have set are listed in TestComplete. Maybe even 2 tabs. First is the mandatory fields, 2nd tab could be optional fields. Or allow us to pick and choose what is on the form. Or even pull it from JIRA.

While working in the script editor it would be helpful to have a command that will highlight the application object identified under the cursor (or selected). This feature is available from the Object Browser and the Name Mapping editor and the Keyword Test editor. This feature would enable you to quickly determine what objects are being referenced in a script, and would be very helpful in cases where you are working with scripts that were created by someone else--or that were created by you more than two weeks ago. Thanks, Daniel
