Unable to add assertion

Hi,

with a very simple project, I am trying to add assertions to my SOAP requests. When I clicked on the + icon, the dialog opens, but all is shown is Contains. All the others types are missing. Also, I cannot select any option on the left.

Working with SoapUI 5.2.1 on Win 7 64. Logs files attached.

Anyone can help me on this?

Thanks

To be more accurate, I am able to add Contains assertions, but that's about it. I need to use XPath and Not Contains as well, but those options are not even proposed.

will you post a screen shot of what you're seeing?

Hi jbuttimer,

Here is what mean.

That clearly says, what assertions that you recently used. So, only Contains Assertion is shown.

You can click on left side (various options available) to choose appropriate assertion.

As mentioned in your post, xpath assertion can be added as shown below

http://www.soapui.org/functional-testing/validating-messages/validating-xml-messages.html

I wish I could. When I click on any item on the left side, nothing happens. It doesn't behave as in the page you mention.

What is the type of the test step do you have?

Not sure what you mean by this. I have a TestSuite containing multiple TestCases, each one having one TestStep with one SOAP request inside. The SOAP requests actually work, but when I tried to add an assertion to the TestSteps, I ran into the issue mentionned in my post.

Thanks for your help.

Hopefully you are a Licensed SoapUI NG/ Pro users. Adding assertion through the plus sign (+) is little bit indirect compared to the Click & Point assertion method mentioned in http://www.soapui.org/working-with-soapui/point-and-click-testing/point-and-click-with-xpath.html.

All are going to be same approach but with little difference. Please try this method and see whether you can able to add XPath assertions or other assertions.

Thanks,

Samy

Ok, you are using SOAP request test step type. Then it is quite strange. Do you see any thing in the logs?
