Using Recording function first time

Brand new to Test Complete. Browsing the forums. I have worked the tutorials yet when I attempt one that has a few more steps, I fail.

 I hit the record button, start clicking away and after only a few steps, save. Using XP and/or Win7. I start with the desktop, open Excel, click on cel then mark it as expected value.



I will post an example.

    I am not sure, but there should be some prerequisites to test Excel. Does Excel is really what you want to automate? If it's not then try to start with Notepad :-)

    Post here the recorded test and its execution log if you are having troubles to make it work.

    Thank you. I made it back to most simple, Open excel, open file, stop. That worked. My error is the way I ask Test Complete to check a value in the cell. I want to use TC for regression testing and I appreciate your comment to assist!! Thank you, I will send test when I get the compare to crash.
