Text on TPanel

Hi all   I am experiencing problem in reading text on TPanel through TC. I can see the text on the panels, but TestComplete doesn’t.   I was wondering if I need to add TPanel under object mapping...

The "TPanel" Delphi class is simply a container.  It really doesn't have anything else.  Can you object spy anything else in screen? What can you see in ObjectBrowser?  Is there anything else that exposes the text?

    Hi

     

    I am unable to ObjectSpy anything else inside the screen, only the frame is highlighted by the objectspy. There is nothing else which exposes the text. Is there a way of exposing the text ?

     

    Lot of our reports are generated in this way and I was wondering if there is any workaround to read the text / Thanks

      Next question: do you need to actually read the text from the screen? Or would it suffice to utilize your applications function to save the report to file and then validate the file contents?  That might be the best work around I can suggest (had to do something similar in a "past life" working with another Delphi application).

        Apologies for the late response. Seems this one just got out of sight.

         

        I am happy to save the report to file and then validate the contents. But I can only save the output in pdf and I am not very sure how can I validate it.

         

        I have attached the pdf for your reference. What I would like to achieve here is that the total of all the figures should match up correctly. Now, is there any way we can calculate the figures from pdf ?

      Hi,

       

      As tristaanogre said TPanel is just a container whereas the elements are developed over the panel

       

      •  Did the application compiled properly with DebugInfoAgent ?
      •  If yes, and do check for the enumerator property from the object browser, you can view the child objects from the TPanel.
      •  Check for "Components" or "Controls" type of properties from the object browser if any such exists look for the associated count properties.
      • If yes, drill into each object using enumeration and print the class names so that the underlying objects can be viewed.
      • Then you can check for the relevant properties and perform operations on them
      • If you've found any class name which matches to the requirement you can add it to the "Text Recognition" under accepted and Extended depending on the requirement.
      • This solves the identification of objects on the TPanel type control

      These, were my work-around solutions with my experience over Delphi controls and application.
