TestComplete claiming gratuitous amounts of RAM when idle

Hey all! We've been using TestComplete for the past few months and it's been going pretty well. I'm afraid we're doing something terribly wrong though, it now takes literally five minutes to open our test suite, and just idling after opening the project TestComplete is using 1.2 gig of RAM. Currently the suite is divided into 15 projects which all share the same NameMapping file, and many share the same library files for common functions.

Does anyone have any idea why this is? Or what we can do about it?

Update, this seems related to the NameMapping file. If we merge our 2mb NameMapping file with another team's 13mb NameMapping file (that was based on the same 2mb file) it ends up being a 35mb NameMapping file, and now the project takes 5 mins to open and takes 1.2 gig of ram. If I swap back to the old (now incomplete) 2mb NameMapping though, the project loads instantly and only takes 800mb of ram.

As per this other forum thread, it looks like merging NameMappings isn't supported yet? Even though there is a merge option in the software? :(
  • Hi Corby,

Please send us your NameMapping.tcNM file, we will correct it. Also, you will need to download the newer build of TestComplete (9.0.1312) and install it instead of your current instance of the tool. TestComplete 9.0.1312 is available for downloading in your SmartBear Account .

  • Hello Corby,

Your NameMapping.tcNM file is ready. Could you please submit a request using our form to obtain the file? When submitting, please refer to the M0103314 ticket number somewhere in the text of your message.
