We are currently working on TestComplete 9 and planning to release this product version soon. Unfortunately, I cannot give you more precise time estimates at the moment.



As for applications created in Delphi XE2, currently, TestComplete doesn't have official support for such applications, and some of them may be handled by the product incorrectly. We are planning to implement the official support in TestComplete 9.

we are currently deciding between choosing TestComplete 8 or 9 for further testing. We want to test Delphi, .NET Framework C# and Silverlight Applications. Maybe it is also possible to test REST Services?



We want to decide within two weeks, if we choose TestComplete 8 or 9.



Please inform us about new features, which are covering the above mentioned topics. Are there must-have features in Test Complete 9, we would benefit?



Our senior tester is currently using TestComplete 8 for testing. Is it a seamless upgrade for test cases, which are created in TC 8, to TC9?

This is not the official answer (see my signature), but I never had problems with tests migration to the next higher version. And the usual policy of SmartBear is that those having active maintenance subscription get upgrades to the next major version for free.

The release of TestComplete 9 is imminent, and undoubtedly you will have the news on this forum, as well as through other media.

Regarding your inquiry on features, we will be supporting the new Delphi XE2 including 64 bits and Silverlight 5 32/64 bits.

There are general updates that affect C# support but nothing radically new. Visual Studio 11 support is expected later this year.



There is nothing special required for project migration from v8 to v9 if you are concerned about Windows applications.

thank you very much for your fast replies. Since we are using Silverlight 5.1 for our project and the migration of test cases should be seamless, we will wait for the new TestComplete 9 release.

It is out. I installed it today. Crashed after installation when just starting it without opening any project suite. Hopefully this was an exception.

Another thread speaks of a solution to TC 8 crashing VB6 applications. I wonder if this fix is included in v9. Anyone know? Thanks

Yeah, hopefully, it was. As I am trying it for more than three hours now (Vista 32-bit) and everything is fine. (I have a habit to restart TestComplete after installing a new version, but this is just to save the settings (Options and Default Project Settings) that I used to adjust according to my preferences.)



P.S. Was the crush dump generated and sent to Support? Just wondering...
