TestComplete 9.20 - Currently Available Patches and Solutions

Hello TestComplete Users,

As you know, we are constantly improving TestComplete based on the users’ feedback, trying to resolve issues as soon as possible. When we can, we are providing patches, so you don’t have to wait for the next minor update for an issue to be resolved. So, we decided to put together a list of most useful patches we created for TestComplete 9.20.

The list below contains a description of known issues, for which we have patches available. It’s unlikely that some of you need more than one patch, since they are very specific to the environment and the usage scenario.

If you see the symptoms on your computer, please contact our TestComplete Support Team and give us a detailed description of your situation – we will determine whether you are having a known issue or not, and will provide you with a patch if necessary.

Here is the list:

Web Testing

     ·  IE 9 may crash when executing a web test.

     ·  A tested application that hosts the IE component may crash during test execution.

     ·  When auto-mapping a web Panel element (the DIV tag), in certain cases, it can be mapped only via the ObjectType property. This may cause recognition ambiguity. We have a patch that makes automatic Name Mapping use the ObjectIdentifier property as well.

     ·  Actions aren't recorded over a web page added to the list of TestedApps when the “Record user actions over tested applications only” option is tuned on.

     ·  Object Spy cannot catch some Flex objects.

Distributed Testing

     ·  When running a distributed test using Network Suite, the Master computer may complain that "TestComplete/TestExecute is not installed" on the remote PC, even though it is installed.

     ·  A black square instead of a remote desktop's image is displayed on the Run State panel when running a distributed test.

     ·  Getting the Out of memory while expanding memory stream error when copying a project to a slave machine by using TestComplete's  Copy Project to Slave command.

     ·  TestComplete may hang when opening the Base Path dialog.

Open Applications

     ·  Visual Basic 6 windows stop being recognized as VBObject under certain conditions.

     ·  .NET apps may stop being recognized as Open when executing a test. Window objects instead of WinFormsObject objects are displayed in TestComplete's Object Browser.

     ·  Sometimes two VBObject elements with the same name appear on the same level.

     ·  TestComplete 9.20 may not see Debug Agent's properties and methods of Delphi XE3 x64 apps.

     ·  TestComplete may hang when inspecting objects of a Delphi app via Object Browser / Object Spy.

Name Mapping

     ·  Getting the Could not convert variant of type (Null) into type (OleStr) error when mapping objects of Delphi application.

     ·  When Name Mapping is used for a very large tested application with thousands of controls, the test execution performance may be lower.

Checkpoints

     ·  TestComplete may hang when a long string is used in a Property checkpoint.

     ·  Getting the This action is only available from Internet Explorer that displays unpacked (non-MHT) log warning when a Diff utility is used in a project.

SCC

     ·  When a project suite is bound to a source code control system, code editing may become slower.

     ·  When updating a Stores element from the Test Log panel, the element is not getting Checked Out.

Other Issues

     ·  The Interface Not Supported Error message may appear when working with TestComplete’s UI.

     ·  TestComplete may consume much memory when executing tests written in DelphiScript.

     ·  Getting The parameter Node is not a child of this Node error when calling a web service method.

     ·  A tested app may crash when Text Recognition is used to work with app's dialogs.

     ·  Getting an error saying that “…the aqReporterHelper.exe file cannot be found” when executing a test.

All these patches will be included in the next maintenance release of TestComplete 9.
