TestComplete 9.10 is available!

Hi Everybody,



I have the great news for you - we have just released a new
TestComplete version - v. 9.10 . The list of improvements is awesome:
support for Win 8, Win Server 2012, MS Visual Studio 2012,
IE 10, and etc. were added. More information can be found in the What’s New in TestComplete 9.10 article.



TestComplete 9.10
can be downloaded in your SmartBear portal.
I suggest that you try the new product version. TestComplete 9.10 is installing
on my computer, and I’m so excited using it! That would be great if you shared
your opinion about TestComplete 9.10.

    In my portal there is a listing for TC9.1 but there is no link to download it.....

    One of the big issues was performance - slow execution time - and failure to recognize objects (sometimes it will, other times it won't).

    The list of features said NOTHING about these issues.  Were these issues addressed?

    As far as I know some performance issues were resolved in TestComplete 9.10. However, a better way to make sure in this is to try the new product version for testing.

    I did not like the message indicating that projects created in an older version of TestComplete needed to be converted and would no longer be usable in older versions of TestComplete.  I wonder why this is necessary going from TC 9.0.1312 to 9.10.1894?



    TestComplete 9.10.1894 failed to recognize the first object selected in our application and failed.  I simply executed it again, and it is currently running with no further issues.



    I also executed a standalone script to restore a database using MS SQL Management Studio.  TestComplete 9.10 could not find the smss.exe executable using the new isatallation.  I changed the relative path generated by TC 9.0.1312 to the "C:\Program Files\..." path for smss.exe, and it ran fine.  Apparently, the installation path for 9.10 executables is different than 9.0.

    Hmm. That's strange. Did anybody else see this in TC 9.10?



    As for the wrong behavior with relative paths, could you please contact our Support team or create a separate thread and provide us with a sample code that worked in TC 9.0 and doesn't work in TC 9.10?

    Harlan, I would like to ask you to contact our support regarding the project conversion in TC 9.10. If you still have the TC 9.0 project, it would be great if you sent it to them, as well as the converted TC 9.10 project.

    Hi Tanya,



    I installed TC 9.1 over 9.0 and I can also see the same warning of project conversion.



    I see a lot of choices at that point - Yes, No, Yes to All, etc

    Harnek, Harlan!



    I've just known that due to a significant improvement in the TestedApps editor, TC 9.10 will convert all TestedApps items added to the TC 9.0 project. So, if you see the request to convert the TestedApp item, this is OK. However, I recommend that you backup your TC 9.0 project before opening it in TC 9.10.

    I'm currently using TC to automate regression testing for a Microsoft Dynamic AX 2012 application.  However, since upgrading to TC 9.10 a lot of the mappings that previously worked fine are no longer working.


    For example, previously the Display Object Spy/ Map Object from Screen options mapped the status bar of a form to:


    NameMapping.Sys.Ax32.ActivitiesForm.TaskPageLayout.Footer.StatusBarControl


     


    Now it maps it to:


    NameMapping.Sys.Ax32.ActivitiesForm.TaskPageLayout.Footer.Window("HwndWrapper[Ax32.exe;;8e1bf38c-2c04-4800-9a34-60c6a6f2d78b]", "", 1)


    Furthermore, I’m not unable map a button on the status bar, which I could do before the upgrade.


    I’ve not changed any settings and the MAAS and UI Automation Support extensions are still selected.


    Does anyone have any ideas why the mappings have changed?

    I had to convert my project suite to the newer version which is no problem. Unfortunately I noticed the same behaviour regarding the NameMapping, a few controls can no longer be found. After remapping I wanted to save the NameMapping file by clicking the X in order to close the document. I should not have done that, TestComplete crashed. I tried that again. Same behaviour. Workaround: Press Ctrl-Shift-S to save. I switched back to previous version because I do not need the new features and the release got more unstable.
