TC\TE Versions 15.70-15.71 - Unable to open due to license or token issue

Just checking to see if any users are experiencing this issue.

** NOTE: My license server is on-prem with no issues until 15.70-15.71

Recently after upgrading to 15.70 and eventually 15.71, on random days, after restarting my Hyper-Vs or using ones that have been up for awhile, when I start up TE mostly sometimes TC, I'll get a popup titled ' Redirect to Login...'

This is preventing TC\TE from opening for using to auth or token issue.

There are various files created to assist with TC\TE to start up correctly and have the correct auth\token\urls to open.

The ones:

TestComplete.auth
TestComplete.tokens

in the following locations

C:\Users\<WINDOW_USER>\TestComplete
C:\Users\<WINDOW_USER>\TestExecute

seem to not be updated or corrupted ???

When this issue is there, again you'll get a popup window titled - 'Redirect to Login...'

I have opened a Support Ticket and was provided steps to follow to resolve this issue,
but it still occurs randomly.

This is becoming more of an issue when scheduled runs occur and the issue happens.

Maybe the SmartBear folks in this community can explain from TC\TE startup to exit, what happens to these files that could be impacting them when TC\TE is started up the next time.

    Maybe someone can explain how the above files are touched are updated when not used or in use - technical explanation.

    Does something poll the license server periodically to update these files while the tools are not in use?

    What could be happening periodically during the day that would corrupt these files?

    This issue where my TC\TE license get corrupted? for some unknown reason are automation Hyper-V machines and I have an On-Prem license server.

    By my luck, this issue just happened on Feb. 4, 2025.
    Doing the work-around supplied by SmartBear which takes some time when all the Hyper-Vs I have running for automation testing.

      I'm finding a number of issues with the latest version of TC i.e. v15.72.60.7 (not relating to licenses) and I've logged 4 bugs.

      I can only suggest you to open a support ticket, but it seems like you have already done this.

    I have the same problem with TE 15.68.8.11 x64 and local OnPremise License Server (LicenseManager-2.2.0), starting after Update to this Version in december 2024. Newer Versions of TE doesn't work for us, because of several other problems.

    nearly after every restart of the TE Servers (Windows Server 2016 Machines on HyperV Cluster). The local TE Engine want's to recheck the license and fail. i have to manually open it. click logout user and check again. this process fails with an error message, but after that it works again for 1day or maybe a few days.

    TE becomes more & more unusable for our needs. we wann do E2E-Performance Testing with it. how more fails we get from TE Engine, making the SmartBear product increasingly useless for us.

    Hope we will get a solution somehow.

    I'm experiencing the same issue since dl the above version.

    Two files exist in C-drive:

    TestExecute.auth - Auth File

    TestExecute - Tokens file

    Note:

    Tech support suggested for me to uninstall above version/reinstall older version app. Now, I'm unable to launch the app.  If I'm able to resolve the issue I will update here in channel.
