Searching for a tool to use as a fake interface

SoapUI (http://smartbear.com/product/free/) can mock web responses and I believe that Fiddler (http://www.telerik.com/fiddler) can also do a lot in this area.

If you are new to these tools, I would recommend to search for the 'SoapUI Cookbook' book for SoapUI and for the 'Debugging with Fiddler' (IIRC) one for Fiddler.
