Same here with the same Chrome and TC versions. Web pages in Chrome recognized and processed without problems.
I really don't like going into the "about" option on Chrome to check the current version.
Because, when I do, and despite my best efforts to stop it, thats when it tends to auto-update itself. And if it updates to a version that breaks the link to TC, I have to uninstall and re-install my stored offline installer for it.
Although, I may try Alex's solution above. I haven't tried that one ....

Works fine for me.
Yes, it tries to connect to somewhere and, possibly, to auto-update, but as the relevant executable can not be found (because it was renamed) this attempt fails with some error displayed (error 5 IIRC).
