Main Project Test items page "Decription" text won't edit

When looking at the entire project suite inside TestComplete v8, the column titled "Description" won't allow me change anything. Many of the items already contain descriptions and I can't edit those either. When I click the item the typing cursor will start to blink as if it we're ready to receive text but no matter what keys I push nothing happens. I have had absolutely no problem with my keyboard working anywhere else. Does anyone have any idea why this would be happening?
