Invalid Address message when attempting to connect to Oracle VirtualBox

Hi,

I have been attempting to connect to an Oracle Virtualbox through the network suite, and all I am getting is an "Invalid Address" error when I try the verify. I have executed the "Fill from the network" option to get the machine on my list of hosts, I have then entered the domain, user and password to connect, and then I have tried to use the verify and I keep getting this message. I have tried a number of different options but just don't seem to be getting anywhere.

I have TestComplete installed on my Window7 64bit machine, but the repository is on a server. The Oracle VirtualBox is Win7 64bit and is also located on my machine. I am running TestComplete 8.60 Enterprise

Does anyone know of anything that may not allow me from connecting to this virtual pc?

Regards,

Ken

    Hello Ken,

TestComplete displays the "Invalid address" error message if the verified host is turned off or if the DNS server resolves the host's name to its IP address incorrectly.

Please try specifying the host's IP instead of the host name in the Address column.

If this does not help, please check whether you can ping your host and whether you can connect to your host via the Remote Desktop Connection.

Please let us know your results.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Julia,

Thanks for your help so far. I tried to ping the PC and it was using IPv6, so I thought that I would switch IPv6 off, and while I was able to ping the PC and I changed the address to the IPv4 IP address, I still got the Invalid Address error.

When I tried to connect with Remote Desktop, it kept on giving me the error that the remote computer could not be verified because security certificate could not be authenticated was not from a trusted certifying authority? I have attached the message I am getting.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in Advance

    Hello Ken,

Could you please check whether the host you are trying to connect to meets all the requirements specified in the Requirements for Remote Computers and Projects Help topic?

Also, could you please switch to the Advanced tabbed page in the Remote Desktop Connection dialog, in the If server authentication failed drop-down box, select the Connect and don't warn me option and check whether the remote connection to the target host can be established successfully? If it can, does the "Invalid address" error still persist?

    Thank you.

    Hi Julia,

I have had some success with the assistance of one of my co-workers. We switched the Domain setting from the domain for the company to the name of the virtual pc and that got it working. It wasn't actually getting on the company domain so therefore it couldn't see it.

    Thanks for your help.
