Firefox 50.0.1 and 50.0.2

Hi all,

The Firefox v50.0.1 or v50.0.2 are not recognized by TestComplete v12.10.602.7. Here is my situation:

1. The test machine has to be connected to the Internet for testing.

2. Firefox auto-upgrade is controlled by organization server team, and I cannot override it and cannot stop auto-upgrade.

3. I cannot use Chrome because it remembers the first login and I need to login as different users for testing.

4. I have installed the latest TestComplete v12.10 module Firefox 50 patch, but still won't work for v50.0.1 or v50.0.2. I got an error message saying "Please check for a Firefox support patch on the support.smartbear.com web site, or use a supported Firefox version." for both Firefox versions.

Any suggestions to workaround this versioning issue will be much appreciated!

Many thank,

Lin

  • Hi,

No, this is not possible in official way.

The recommended approach is to keep your test environment in the controllable state, which means disabling automatic browsers update and move to manual update to the required version when needed.

Previous versions of Firefox can be obtained from here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/

  • You didn't tell us what "not recognized" and "won't work" mean in your case.  What exactly happens when you run your test?  Do you get an error message?  What is the exact message and where does it occur in your test?

We need more details in order to be able to provide suggestions.

      Hi Marsha_R,

Thanks for your question. Yes, I do get an error message, and the error message says "Please check for a Firefox support patch on the support.smartbear.com web site, or use a supported Firefox version."

I have just received a reply from the SmartBear support team saying that "I have contacted the development team and they are aware of the issue. Currently Firefox 50.0.1 is not supported however a patch will be released later this week.". Hope this can be resolved soon.

      Many thanks,

      Lin

Now Firefox's latest version is v50.0.2. I have got the same error message as it is for v50.0.1. Is there a way to let TestComplete ignore browser's minor version number .0.1/2 and only check v50? I'm really getting annoyed now.
