Don't you use SVN repositories? That way the location would not matter, you'd always had the files available.



This is my folder structure (all the projects import files from HelperFiles folder):

folder ProjectSuiteMaster\HelperFiles

folder ProjectSuiteMaster\Project1

folder ProjectSuiteMaster\Project2

folder ProjectSuiteMaster\Project3

You have 2 options, you either use it inside testcomplete with microsft TFS or something simmilar



or outside (we use tortoiseSVN) .



For a begginer, tortoise is really simple, you just need to set up a SVN server in your network, create a repository for your files, and start commiting and updating your files.



There are a lot of similar tools, the best one must be GIT, but is not as simple as tortoise to get started.



If you have microsoft TFS licenses I think is your best option, there's a million things you can do with it (or so I've heard), but I've never used it.

Tortoise is reallt simple, you just have to be careful while merging files, if you don't like the tortoise merging system use winmerge.



Testcomplete project and organization files are IMPOSSIBLE to merge, so, if anyone changes them, the rest of the people of the team need to update the file before making any changes.

These are the files (they include script and keyword organization files, project variables and options, etc...):

*.tcLS

*.pjs

*.tcCfgExtender

*.tcScript

*.tcKDT



This is my advice to work with TC in a team

1 Project Suite

Several Projects acording to different products or people working in TC

All the helper files imported equally to all the projects as well as testedApps with relative paths and nameMapping file.

I use the same aproach and TE uses the common scripts just fine, are you sure they are there? On the other PC?



Don't you notice some really weird behaviour with TE? I'm having a lot of problems running my tests with TE on remote machines...

When TE doesn't work as expected on Win7 I check C:\Users\glets\AppData\Roaming\SmartBear\TestExecute\9.0\Silent.log



In any case your project's files must be organized the exact same way from one machine to another. They are referenced in the Script.tcScript file and the paths are relative:

All our folders have the same name and path's on all computers.



it seems that objects are not recognized on TE (even in my computer) but work fine with TC

To avoid guessing about TE issues and as we have floating licenses, we install TC and TE on all our test machine to be able to debug test runs. That helped, a lot.



We run the same versions of TC and TE so if it runs on TC it will run on TE ! :-)

As I said, it happens the same in my machine with TC10.3 and TE10.3, on TC everything goes well, on TE it doesn't...
