Add a new items to a data grid.

Hello,

I have provided a screen shot of the area of WPF (.NET application) which is causing a difficulty in automation.

The problem is that it's a grid item that you can only edit the first time and once you enter the details, the grid is not editable.

I know that the Test Complete will throw back a warning such as "Object ID does not exist." But the issue is I cannot go and modify any objects as they are locked so the Automation tool Test Complete will think it's there though it's locked.

Now unfortunately I can't ask the Developers for the:

-Name & ClassNames when they developed their data grids. Because they use Dev Express controls which they've updated.

Would the solution here be not to automate such a grid which probably wouldn't be very practical for our purposes?

I would really appreciate thoughts on how to go forward on this matter.

With Kind Regards,

AAN.

  • Aneez,

As far as I can see, you are testing a WPF application that uses a grid control by Developer Express. TestComplete supports this vendor's controls, and it provides support for WPF apps, so everything should work fine.

Could you clarify what you are trying to do? What actions do you perform? What results are you going to achieve?

Also, please don't send screenshots within a Word document. Word scales these images automatically to fit the page and it is difficult to view them.

Please use MS Paint to save the captured screenshots to png or jpg files. This way, it will be more convenient to explore them. :-)
