ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsAbility to run tests from logs - Could be used to quickly re-run all failed tests This would allow the running of tests from a log summary page. If the "Failed" tab is clicked all test could be selected and re-run. This would be very handy for when a single issue has caused many tests to fail - eg authentication time-outs in our case. Testing a Citrix application via Citrix Viewer and the IQ module We need to test a Citrix hosted application and are havving trouble with the ClickNextTo function in the Citrix Viewer: Laptop running TestComplete: ---> Citrix Viewer-----> Server: Citrix AUT Originally a keyword test was used uising the OCR Action ClickNextTo butthere is problem with a long delay with the message "Waiting until the window is activated. The Click action works fine. function EnterUserNameAndPassword() { // Recognize the text of the tested application's main window var wnd = Aliases.Citrix_Viewer.Form.WinForm.Panel.ATL.Server.wMFService.CtxICADisp; var obj = OCR.Recognize(wnd); // Find the "Customer Name" label var t = obj.BlockByText("user"); // Enter "John Smith" in the text box to the right of the found label t.ClickNextTo(toRight, 25); t.SendKeys("John Smith", toRight, 25); t.Click(); var t = obj.BlockByText("Password"); t.ClickNextTo(toRight, 25); t.SendKeys("pass", toRight, 25); t.Click(); } With the above setup TC has trouble with the ClickNextTo and SendKeys. Click is OK. The identical test was then re-run as follows over Remote Desktop remoting onto a VM running Citrix Viewer: Laptop running TestComplete: ---> RDP - -----> VM running Citrix Viewer-----> Server: Citrix AUT The RDP window was mapped and the same code used which worked fine even though it is looking at the same thing. As a test the AUT was replaced Notepad was used displaying the required text and this worked. It appears TestComplete is not able to use the CitrixViewer with certain OCR actions (SendKeys) and ClickNextTo. Clicking and SendKeys is fine. RDP access is fine. Has anyone had the same issue? Re: Image comparison for scalable elements I did it a few years ago with checking and clicking things on maps in .NET/desktop. I set the size of the screen to known zoom levels before doing a comparisons. Also having reference markers of known size and reducing the zoom in steps until found using a find-image function. Once found panning the image to make it central then using that as reference for other elements being tested, eg map icons etc. It was extremely slow! Re: Resizing the desktop when connected remotely via RDP to Windows Server 2016 Hi Alex, Thanks for the solution which is the best as it changes the console default resolution in the registry. I will give it a try. As it is I used this which runs first before any applications are opened: getActiveXObject("WScript.Shell").Run("powershell -command Set-DisplayResolution -Width 1920 -Height 1080 -Force"); Jonathan Resizing the desktop when connected remotely via RDP to Windows Server 2016 Hi, Does anyone know how to change the desktop size after connecting via RDP? My OS is defaulting to 1024x768 but the application needs 1920x768. We use the tscon.exe command to swith the session to "con:" which is set at the lower resolution. I'm thinking we'll have to change that in the VM graphics config but is there any other way of doing it "in code" or OS scripting? Thanks Re: Test automation on Virtual Machines Thanks everyone that has solved our problem as well and will allow us to start integrating into our pipline. mbeckhamYour question and description of your pipline integration was really good and the exactly where we want to go and the additional PS will be a help in our repeating the same. Re: Test automation on Virtual Machines We had exactly the same issue last night when an IT upgrade disconnected the RDP machine. All the tests failed due to no UI. The reference doesn't advise on how to keep tests running when the RDP session disconnects. We're trying to integrate TestExecute with our Devops pipeline as well so are keen to see the solution. Re: Spy tool unanable to resolve Chromium Edge downloads window An update. If I disable the TestComplete browser extension it works! Spy tool unanable to resolve Chromium Edge downloads window Hi all, Is anyone able to spy the MS edge browser (91.0.864.41) pinned downloads window opened with Ctrl+J? The top-level window is possible but the elements it contains cannot be highlighted. We're using the desktop module and have tried UIA and MSAA without success. It does appear in the Object Browser and it is possible automate it in code. We have a preference for using TestComplete out-of-the-box functions and keyword tests rather than coding. We use code for things that cannot be done in any other way. Not being able to spy objects makes our test more dificult to maintain when things break so we're looking for a solution. Any ideas? SolvedRe: Name mapping of same object Where possible avoid "extended find". We had lots of cases of that and its been resolved since we've static mapped everything especially the top-level objects. With "extended find" other objects may be a better match than the one you have mapped and TestComplete will use that instead. We also disabled the self healing option as TC as it was too easy to select the wrong elements to make its fixes. Static mapping makes fixing much easier when things do break. We only use extended find for very low level objects in the tree and where there is no possibility of another similar object being identified by mistake. In these case we have used parent and "required children" to improve the identification. Another option is the IntelligentQuality module and use OCR actions and checkpoints. We have a suite that uses this.
