Text File Comparison with Tolerance applied on Numerical values
Suggestion to add ability to allow tolerance to numerical numbers within a range for side by side file comparisons. Likeusing regular expressions or something: extract text and numbers separately. Then, check whether the extracted numbers are within the allowed interval: We have a lot of engineering data that always contains very slight minute differences, we want to apply tolerance to these numerical values within allowed tolerance, unlike the current tolerance ability that doesn't do this sort of operation. We currently do this by using scripts but the reporting in this case is terrible. Having results in side by side comparison would reduce a lot of time.3.6KViews0likes0CommentsTestComplete plugin in Jenkins should use the credentials plugin to store user name and password.
Hi Guys, In the "run interactive user session" part of TestComplete's Jenkins plugin the username and passwords should be stored in credentials plugin so that user doesnt have to change passwords in each and every job. I'm using Jenkins to run acouple of UI tests and it was a pain to revisit all jobs to change my passwords. Other plugins like mercurial etc use the credentials plugin and it makes life super easy. Thanks.3.8KViews1like0CommentsRe: Is there a way to find out how a test was started by TestComplete or TestExecute?
Hi Colin, This might not workout for me. I have both TestComplete and TestExecute installed on my host and remote machines. I sometime have to debug on one of the remote machines due to different os or different project conditions. That will make the dummy folder thing a bit inconvenient. I was hoping to just write a small script at the beginning of my tests and use that info to write results etc differently with each kind of run. Thanks for your help. Hi, I want to know if there is way I could check if the automated test is started by TestComplete or TestExecute from script within tests? If TestCompelte starts I want certain values for project variables. Whereas if TestExecute was used to run the tests then I want certain different values to be stored in the project variables. These values are used to manipulate other tests along the way. I use TestExecute to run on my test machines and TestComplete on my host mostly for writing new tests. This is the solution I got from customer care. "They investigated the issue and suppose that the behaviour you described is absolutely normal. The thing is that, though the 'File' tab's buttons are present in the Object Browser tree, they're invisible, that is, they cannot be clicked. This is related to the window composition, which we cannot affect, it is the way the application's GUI is build. So, TestComplete uses the only possible way - records the button click by its coordinates. I understand why you find this not quite convenient, but the buttons do not change their coordinates even when you resize the main window. So, the way the button click is recorded can be considered reliable enough for using in tests." Hope it helps others having similar issue.3.5KViews2likes1CommentRe: Unable to access buttons on Backstage Ribbon for Codejock 16.4
Hi Tanya, I read the link material you sent but that didn't help. I have updated TC to latest version 11.30.2298.7 that didn't help as well. In my object browser I can see the button object which I want to click (NameMapping.Sys.Process("RibbonSample").Window("XTPMainFrame", "Untitled - Codejock Ribbon Sample", 1).Window("XTPDockBar", "xtpBarTop", 1).ToolBar("The Ribbon").MenuButton("FILE").ToolBar(0).Button("Save")) but its properties shown are somehow wrong as it is visible on screen but object browser says "visible = false". Could it be TestComplete cannot recognize this kind of objects? Or if there is any thing missing on my part? Again Thanks for the help. Regards, Daniel3.6KViews0likes5Comments
