Re: When I try to stop a script by clicking Stop or via Shift-F2, TC displays "Stopping" and crashes.
Good point. I've removed the comment about the font...I wrote that when I was in a state of frustration with TC. The good news is, since I updated TC and dumped all the old scripts and started fresh recording new ones, the problem hasn't returned.1.6KViews1like0CommentsRe: When I try to stop a script by clicking Stop or via Shift-F2, TC displays "Stopping" and crashes.
Agreed...but all it would show is the "Stopping..." text under the TC controls. It happens intermittently and this morning I updated to 10.60, so I'm hoping the update resolves it. I'll update more info or that its resolved as it goes.1.6KViews0likes2CommentsTestComplete Increments an Object Name Which Prevents Playback
In this app I'm testing, there's some navigation links embedded in an object. I've manually written steps for Click to hit the links and have been able to verify the correct pages load in the main panel of the app. When one of the links is clicked, the navigation updates to be relevant to the new screen. When I scripted this, a combination of a lot of manual editing and a little bit of recording, everything worked fine. However, when I returned later to run the script, TestComplete incremented the name of the navigation object containing the links. Since before it was "Name" and TC renamed it to "Name1", obviously the script fails. I thought I saw mentioned somewhere that using NameMapping I could use a wildcard (*) to work for any incrementing TC takes it upon itself to do, but that's where I'm lost. What is renamed to "Name*" and where? I've tried renaming the first object name to "Name*" but it failed. I tried renaming "Name1" to "Name*" but that failed. I tried renaming the steps in the test to "Name*" but that wasn't allowed. Any specific direction on how to either keep TC from doing its bewildering (and needless) incrementing or how to properly use the wildcard would be most appreciated. Thanks!1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Problems woking with dynamic child objects
I've got this same issue. Here's the details of my situation: First, I record a script where I'm just checking that the proper screens load when selected from a series of nav bar menu items at the top of the screen. I record it, I replay it, all is well. Next, I try to record a series of dynamic links which appear on the left side of the screen (see attached). These links are dependent on the selection of the nav bar menu items in the previous paragraph. And here's where it gets sticky...first, the links are in some sort of object requiring me to manually script Click commands with the coordinates over each link. Okay, no big deal, I got that working just fine. But when I click the next nav bar menu item, and then attempt to create Click commands for the new set of links, the object name appears to have changed as once the script is run TC totally loses track of the object. In the Name Mapping I can see where TC has incremented the object name (see attached). So there's my problem...how can I keep TC from incrementing the object's name (which it does for no reason I can understand) and get the scripts to work? Hi all, This is the third application I'm automating with TC and I'm running into an issue I've not seen before. The first app was web-based, the second was a Windows app, and this third is web-based again. This time, however, I'm having a problem. While recording the test, everything goes just fine. Then, if/when I run into a problem with execution, and a TC error popup appears, I can't move the mouse to make a selection. I can use the arrow keys to go through the various choices or select Cancel, but I can't get the cursor to respond to the mouse movements. I have ensured the driver for the mouse is up to date and, being an external mouse, the touchpad and mouse stick are disabled when its plugged in. Most confounding is that this wasn't an issue with the two previous apps which I used TC to perform automated testing. Any solution ideas would be most welcome. So how would one do this if their ENTIRE script library has been created via record and playback. I've not manually written any of the scripts used in my library. What I'd like to do is add some conditional testing so I can say "If this window exists, close it, otherwise skip this and keep going". But every example I see has lines of manually written script. If anyone knows how to take recorded scripts and add if/then to them using the interface, I'd be much obliged. Thanks!1.5KViews0likes0Comments
