Will Test Complete supports the applications hosted in Citrix Receiver?

Hi,

We would like to use Test Complete to automate desktop based applications which are hosted from Citrix receiver? Have anyone use Test complete to automate Citrix hosted applications?

Thanks,

Muthuvel B

Citrix Receiver is a remote desktop connector, it only shows a picture of the remote computer. You need to install TestComplete on the remote PC to be able to test applications.

      Hi,

      Thank you for the reply.

In our scenario, application is launched as Citrix XenApp from our local laptop. Will installing Test complete in respective citrix server help us in automating the application? This means, both application and Test Complete would be launched as Citrix XenApps from local laptop. Could you please clarify & let me know if you need more details.

      Thanks,

      Muthuvel B

        Hi,

In order to be able to get access to the tested application's internals and control it effectively, TestComplete must be installed on the same computer where the tested application is installed. Then two equally working options are possible: either you will start TestComplete and then the tested application will be started from test code as a TestedApp, or the tested application and TestComplete will be started as a regular Windows applications (on the same machine) and after that TestComplete will be able to control and drive your tested application.

If TestComplete is installed on some other machine but on the same one where the tested application is installed, then TestComplete will be able to do either limited image-based testing or non-visual testing (e.g. control the tested application via COM).
