Upgrade from TC 14.0 -> TC 14.1 : Project code affected? question

If I open my TC 14.0 project in TC 14.1, does it do any changes that would

prevent me from open the same project code back in TC 14.0.

Just seeing some of the new functionality added for TC 14.1 is why I am asking this question.

I have not tried yet.

Regards,

  • That's a question probably for the SmartBear staff.  TanyaYatskovska , can you address this?

GENERALLY speaking, going from 14.0 to 14.1 should not affect backwards compatibility.  In the past, people have been able to run mixed versions of 12.x or 11.x so, if SmartBear is consistent, that should still be the case.

    Hi jkrolczy,

I don't see any issues if you open the TestComplete 14.1 project in 14.0. Do you see any errors?

Robert's right, moving among major versions (12 <> 14) leads to the fact that the project is converted. In this case, we recommend to create a backup before migration.

Being a past user from TC 6 and up, I agree with with has been said.

I justed wanted to be careful for the part in Test Items, where it now has the checkbox for testcase or not.

If this adds additional data settings that TC 14.0 would not recognize if a TC 14.1 project was opened backwards

      to TC 14.0.

      Thanks,
