Unable to Recognize Child Objects of JAVA Swing Application

When Object Spy on Window which has JTextFields and JButtons, what i get is 

Fullname as

Sys.Process("javaw").Window("SunAwtFrame", <window title> , <index>)



Which shows childcount as '0'.



I have reinstalled the TestComplete completely new, so settings related to Java Objects have gone,

What should be the changes required at TestComplete so that I can get 

Sys.Process("javaw").SwingObject(

and also could recognise thechild Objects.



I had gone through help topics as 'Testing Java Applications'but could not solve the probelm

Please Help, also let me know do I need Admin Rights to Object Spy

    I run 64bit Java on a 64 bit Win8.1 machine and I too have been having issues testing Java Applications after I upgraded from Java 51 --> Java 55.



    Everything was working until I upgraded Java.



    We finally got it to work today when we made a change to the Project Suite Properties



    Double click on the Project name and in the Workspace select the Project. Open the Properties tab and select Open Applications>UI Automation and check (or add)  the "List of accepted windows" checkBox

    I run 64bit Java on a 64 bit Win8.1 machine and I too have been having issues testing Java Applications after I upgraded from Java 51 --> Java 55.



    Everything was working until I upgraded Java.



    We finally got it to work today when we made a change to the Project Suite Properties

    Hi Kapeel,

     


    Please check if the following plug-ins are installed and enabled in File | Install Extensions:


      - Java Application Support;


      - Open Applications;


      - Desktop Applications Testing.


    Also, you need to make sure that TestComplete and your tested app are run under the same user account. Besides, try running TestComplete by choosing 


    "As Administrator" from the context menu.

    Hi,



    You have to downgrade your Java to ver. Java 7 Update 51. I had the same issue.

    It is issue with JRE. It will should be fixed in JRE 7 update 65 and JRE 8 update 11.

    I Launched TestComplete as well as my Application with Admin Rights...but still Object Spy can not go to textfields and buttons inside window..

    help help!!

    Hi Tanya and Paul,



    Thnks for the reply.



    Here are the details,

    TestComplete Version - 9.31

    Extension Status as 


    Installed  - Java Application Support;


    Installed  - Open Applications;


    Not Installed  - Desktop Applications Testing.



    About Java Version , I am using jdk1.7.0_55 and jre7.



    I have tried Launching TestComplete and my Application as Administrator but no luck.

    May be due to Desktop Applications Testing is not installed thats why m facing the problem.

    Let me know how can I install the same.

    Hi Paul,



    Thanks for your suggestion, I have downgraded the JAVA to 51 but did not work. :(

    I tested with Sample Java Swing Application that are available on internet, On that application Objects are recognised. But on my actual application it is still not working.



    Also, one more point I have 2 JRE installed on 

    1) C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe [x86]

    2) C:\Program Files\Java\jre7\bin\javaw.exe [x64]



    does this make any difference?

    Hi Kapeel,



    As TestComplete is 32-bit application, I would suggest to reference 32-bit version of Java in the Tools|Options|Engines|Java Bridge setting and check if this helps.



    P.S. Also, I believe that Java Control Support extension is installed in TestComplete, isn't it?

    I have pointed to 32 bit jre in Java_Bridge, I have All required extensions installed but did not work..

    Only thing is I have 2 Version of JAVA as 55 and 51, JAVA_HOME is set for 51, 

    but JRE version of 32 bit still shows 1.7.0_60

    So do i need to downgrade JRE as well to 51 as suggested by Paul ?
