The recorder stopped recognizing and highlighting objects

Hello,   My laptop at work got upgraded to a more recent one. The old one had Windows 7, the new - Windows 10. I had TestComplete installed on my old laptop, and installed it on the new laptop too...

    Hi krosav , I found your support ticket and see that the problem solved itself after Chrome autoupdated!

    So, as you mention there, it was specific to "Chrome version 80.0.3987.106, and when used with Windows 10".

     

    Glad to know the issue is no longer there:smileyhappy:

Yes, as i mentioned this is checked.

At this point, I'd try a re-install of TC to make sure that everything installed correctly.  Beyond that, you might want to check with SmartBear support.

    OK... last check, and then I think you might need to contact SmartBear support.

     

    On your new machine, are you running TestComplete as an administrator?  Note that this is different than you being an administrator of the machine.

    In fact, i did not... I have the administrators rights on the machine, but i did not run TestCompleet as an administrator.

     

    However, i tried, and it did not help...  I closed TestComplete, ran it as administrator, but i had the same problem.

     

    Thank you very much for trying hard to solve my problem, it is much appreciated!

     

    I will try to connect the support, because my scripts do not run on the new machine.

    Yes indeed, it was very strange...

     

    The problem appeared when Chrome got autoupdated to version 80.0.3987.106. But the problem appeared only on the Windows 10 machine, not on the Windows 7 one. It remained with the problem for several days.

     

    Yesterday Chrome got autoupdated to version 80.0.3987.116, and this "magically" solved the problem on the Windows 10 machine, so now it works on both machines.

     

    I mentioned this on the support ticket, but i am mentioning it here too, in case someone else has the same problem. Thanks to everybody for your help!

    OK, thank you!

    I think that the problem is somehow related to Chrome 80, because this is the only difference i can see between the 2 machines, and it works OK on the old machine. 

    But maybe i'm wrong, i dont know...

    I noticed that my old machine got updated too to Chrome 80, and it still does not have the problem. The problem is only on my new machine. So the cause is not Chrome 80, as it is now on both machines.

    OK, I know you've probably already checked this (didn't see a screenshot of this, though).

     

    While the Chrome Extension is installed, is it turned on? (see screenshot)

    Yes, the smartbear extension for Chrome is installed and enabled on both machines.
