I haven't tried this newest version, but it's been my experience that the old version is not removed automatically.

TC12 and TC14 can be installed and run together.

What is the objective of Smartbear to have TC 12 and TC 14 to run together on the same machine ?
Thanks

Occasionally you will find that a test that worked in an older TC version will no longer work in the new version. It could also happen that the upgrade fails for some reason and the new project will not work. Having the old version still available lets you keep testing while problems are being solved.

No reason for that impression. The install has been working that way for as long as I've known TC which is I think version 8. Upgrade can fail for many user-related reasons, lack of disk space, etc. I myself am happy with leaving the old version there to start. If TC has deprecated a feature that I used to use, I can still run the old tests until I convert them to something else. We've also had the case where not everyone in the office converted at once and this lets us all keep using our tests.
If you don't want the old version there, then uninstall it. No big deal.

That's correct, the scripts are not backward compatible, but you can keep a backup copy or tag them in your versioning system to show the older version.

I would branch the code in source control if it were me.
