Show attachments from a testcase in a testcycle execution

In zephyr scale you add an attachment to a testcase via the Attachments tab near Traceability tab.

If you add this testcase to a testcycle and execute the testcycle than I don't see that attachment.

See video in attachment of this ticket!

Is there a way to see the attachments also in the testcycle execution?

  • Hi Nancy,

Sorry, perhaps my explanation wasn't very good - I was in a rush 🙄.  There are 2 options:

Attach files to the whole test case, or attach files to test steps in the Test Script:

    Test Case

In the Test Player, for each test case there is an option to attach files.  To get to the test player you only need to click on the Test Cycle and you're there.  I've attached a screen print showing the location of the Attachments feature where you can add files into the test player.

    Test Script (Steps):

Another option that is useful is to add files into the Test Script (which shows as the test steps in the lower section of the Test Player).  The advantage here is that you could show for example, screen prints to support expected results , etc.  To add attachments into the Test Script steps, go into the Test Case where before you were clicking on the Attachments tab, but instead of doing that, click on the Test Script tab.  In there, for each step, you will see an option on the right-hand side of the step to Attach Files (screen print also attached for you).

Hopefully one of these options is what you're looking for.

    Hi Nancy,

I'm assuming attachments in that space are for something other than execution and that is why they don't appear in the test player.  However, there is an attachments section in the test player and you can add them there.

    Hope that helps.

How can we attach than a file and that we also can see during execution without going back to the testcase itselves?

  • The question "what are the attachments for if they don't show up in the test execution" still makes me wonder. Are they only for internal use? How am I supposed to add a general explanation screenshot/PDF etc. to a test case which the tester then can see on execution (not one for the single test step)? Is there any way to make this work in Zephyr?

It is confusing to have the ability to add attachments to test cases but not see them in the Test Player.  As a workaround, I am able to add screenshots and URLs to the Objective field (the Objective section in the Test Player always shows), but can also add to the Comments field (which needs to be revealed in the Test Player's Details section).  I expect you could also create a custom field for this as well, and add file links (URLs) or screenshots.  At a quick glance, I'm not sure if it's possible to add file attachments.
