Which Modules to select while purchasing TC 10

Our applications are developed using .NET 4.5 and WPF - XAML. So it is obvious that we should select Desktop module, but our applications also show HTML documents and we need to access basic, tags of those HTML documents. So in the purchase page, should we select the WebModule as well? Or if we just select Desktop module would it provide basic support to the HTML pages? Your timely inputs will help us purchase the licenses.

  • Hi,

Look at the What Module to Choose? section of this page - it contains a detailed comparison table of the modules. Actually, the best way is to contact our Sales at sales@automatedqa.com, and they will help you choose the needed modules.

One more idea that may help you - if you are evaluating the TestComplete trial right now, you can enable only the extensions of the Desktop module and disable all other extensions. After that, test how TestComplete works with your app. You can find the list of extensions corresponding to each module on the page I mentioned earlier.

    Let us know your solution.

  • Thanks for your reply Tanya.
Our trial version expired some time back and I don't quite remember if we had those extensions enabled/disabled.

If I simply purchase only the desktop module, will testcomplete's object browser still be able to identify the HTML page and its underlying embedded on my application?
Your insight would do a great deal of help here.

EDIT: And yes I have gone through the link you gave and I still have this question in my mind.

  • Hi,

Let me post here some info from the page that, I guess, meets your needs:

    Application Type

    Needed Module

    Comments

Desktop applications that display web pages

    Desktop or Desktop+Web

Use the Web module only if you need access to web page elements in the built-in browser.

Judging by this, if you need to work with web objects (get some information from the page), you'll need to use the Web module.

To check this for sure, I would suggest that you prolong your trial period and try enabling/disabling extensions.
