URGENT: how to get all the links under specific div/ panel only

HI All,



im shal new to TestComplete tool.



How to get all the links under specific div/ table/ panel



ex:



<div id="firstDiv">

<a href="1"> 1 </a>

<a href="2"> 2 </a>

<a href="3"> 3 </a>

</div>





<div id="secondDiv">

<a href="1"> 1 </a>

<a href="2"> 2 </a>

<a href="3"> 3 </a>

</div>



Now i wanna get all the links under "firstDiv" not under secondDiv



pls let me know how to write script in vb to get all the links under specific div tag

    This is in JScript and not parameterized but it does write out the text of only the children links under firstDiv.



    I would suggest reading up on the Find, FindChild and FindAllChildren methods in the Test Complete help.

    Hi Mike Gunnett ,



    Awesome, its working great, thank you very very very much.



    This is what exactly im looking for.



    can you pls help me in click the link also,

    its collecting all the links and its clicking the 1st link

    but when it tries to click the second link in loop its throwing an error like     "the object invoked has disconnected from its clients"



    Below is the code

            links(i).click  ' gettting error: when i=0 its clicking the link fine, but when i=1 its throwing error, when it try to click the second link its throwing an error

    A couple of suggestions:



    1. You will first need to reset to the originating page to where the second link is located.

    2. It may serve you better to find the links again as you perform your loop. This will refresh the Object with the new browser window. I have seen the same error when the Object you are looking for has changed in some way. Such as, the Browser window has re-loaded.

    Hi Ram,


     


    Based on your script, on the first iteration, you click the first link. I suppose a new page is opened after that. As a result, you don't have access to other links that you found on the previous page.

    Hi Tanya Gorbunova ,




    When i click on 1st link the same page will be displayed again and all the links will be aavailable , it wont navigate to next page.


    Despite all the links will be available, it's unable to click the 2nd link



    can u pls help me in click the next links also.

    Hi Ram,



    If you click on a link and it redirects you to the same page, the previously retrieved objects are "lost", so you have to search them again.



    If you need to open those links, for every link retrieve its href and launch another browser with that URL, so you wont lose the objects

    Hi Smartbear Team/ Javier Coll ,



    In My application, im having around 3000 above links are there, is it correct to open all the links in new browser.



    i have worked on 3 more tools but I found this issue in QTP and TestComplete only, other tools like Selenium and Sahi i never saw this issue.



    what ever the issues i found in QTP, all the issues i saw in TestComplete also.



    seems TestComplete is copy of QTP



    lot of other issues also i found in TestComplete like page wait until page gets redirect



    when i perform some action on page like click on link

    then page will get redirect to next page,

    at that time by default tool should handle whether page get redirected or not

    then next action should perform

    but here tool is not taking care, user externally have to write script,

    this bug i found in QTP also,

    in other tools like selenium and sahi they have provided this option internally,

    we need not to write any external code to check whether page gets navigated to next page or not



    Once u have get the links i will store until we complete the testing



    is there any other way plsssssssssss

    Ram,



    If the click is not essential you could store off each 'href' like Javier said and launch each one to do your verification.



    Otherwise, store off the href in an array of strings, then re-find each href before performing the click. This will make it so your script does not lose the association to the object after the page has been refreshed.

    Yes i have implemented like storing in array and accessing, its working fine,



    but i have tried in this way, this way is working fine in other tools, thats y i have tried like this

    if the below way is work then y we have to implement array way thats y i have tried in this way
