NameMapping did not work during runtime. Using FindChild() has solved the situation. Typical Monday! Thanks for your input Marsha.
Try using the Point to the Object option. This lets you browse to the object you want and then lock the Object Spy onto it.
Thanks Marsha. Yeah, I use Object Spy in that way all day long. Very useful. :)
My problem is once captured in Object Spy, clicking over to Object Browser the popup/context structure either never appears or disappears so fast I cannot navigate it to capture & NameMap the children. aqObject.saveObjectSnapshotToFile () does not help (and in fact, likes to crash/freeze 12.1).
Could you map that one object first? Then maybe you could go to Name Mapping and use Map Child Objects to get the rest.
The plot thickens...
The object that Object Spy "sees" is not the parent that contains the children I'm looking for. It only appears to be as Object Spy seemed to highlight the correct popup window. I was able to "freeze" the popup open and Object Browser sees the objects I want and it "sees" the "pseudo" object Object Spy does. However, at runtime those child objects seem to be somehow masked or TestComplete thinks there's an overlapping window which clearly, there is not. The popup is visible and clickable by a user as it should be.
Well let's not step in that plot then and make a mess ;)
Two things I would check -
1) Look in TaskManager and make sure there really isn't another copy of the app running.
2) Check name mapping and make sure that there isn't a branch similar to the one you're looking at that could be confusing TC. We've had that happen before when the top level parent didn't get its unique name like it was supposed to and then it looks like all the other windows and totally confuses poor TC.
