The Spy of TC920 can't catch the menu buttons of desktop application on Windows 8.1 OS

Hi Experts,

When use the Display Object Spy of TC920 to catch the menu buttons or Ribbion buttons on our desktop products or Windows Word on windows 8.1 OS, it can't spy the buttons, so our UI automations can't go on.

You can get the capture details in the attachment

Thanks,

Echo

    Hi,

Maybe this is because Windows 8.1 is not supported by TC 9.x ?

As a workaround attempt: try to enable the '*' element in the Project Properties|Open Applications|MSAA list and see if it helps.

    Hi,

You means the Testcomplete 9.x can't support Windows 8.1 OS, is it definite? If it is sure, is there any solution to this issue in the next build or plans?

    Thanks

  • Hi Liu,

As far as I remember, the MSAA technology (adding the NetUIHWND class name) is always used to make TestComplete recognize individual elements on the Word toolbar. It looks like you just disabled this option in the project in Windows 8.1.

As for the support for the newest Windows version, it will be added to TestComplete 10 that is going to be released very soon. At the moment, I do not have the information on whether TestComplete 9 will support this OS update.
