The iexplore.exe process crashed

Hi, I receive this Error Message "The iexplore.exe process crashed" occasionally after open browser event. Everything else works fine, browser is still started and workflow is not interrupted. Test log just contains sometimes this crash message. Any advice to avoid this Error message?

It is not a blocking issue, i just would like to know why it happens and how to avoid this crash report.

    In my case, during the scripts execution the browser is opened and closed several times and this message has started to appear to me.


     


    And this problem was solved when I started using the method "terminate()" to close the browser instead "close()".


     


    After use this method, this message not appeared.

    Shouldn't TC and TE be at the same version ?

    Lee Hou, which is the version of Internet Explorer that you are using? Maybe the problem is related to IE. If you get chance, upgrade to the latest version and see if this message persists.



    I do not like IE, but the applications I'm using only works in IE.  ='(


     


    Coincidence or not after using the "Terminate ()" method I updated to the latest version of IE

    I googled this error message and I found something that relates to the processes ie.


     


    See it.


     


    ||| iexplore.exe crashing --> Increase frequency of clear virtual data ||| 


    "I discovered that if I go into Task Manager / Processes, there are several instances of iexplore.exe running. Sometimes three or four, but often two. If I click on "End Process" for one of the iexplore.exe processes, then it has several effects: Firstly, ending one instance of iexplore.exe usually shuts more than one of the instances (sometimes all of them). Secondly, the speed of my computer is restored to normal, until I keep surfing and too many iexplore.exe's appear again in Task Manager, so I have to end the process again."


     


    Perhaps there is an installed extension that does this message appears.

    Tips from Microsoft  

    (IE problems : IE slow, unstable , crashing , locking)


     


     


    - Internet Explorer Add- damaged . Disables damaged accessories.

     


    - The Phishing Filter is turned off . Enables the phishing filter .

     


    - The pop-up blocker is disabled . Activates Pop- ups .

     


    - The security settings are not set to the recommended settings . Resets security to the recommended settings .

     


    - Internet Explorer does not update cached pages or updates inefficiently , slowing down the boot . Resets the policy page for automatic synchronization .

     


    - The cache size is too small or too large , which causes slow performance . Resets the cache size to be between 50-250 MB default page .

     


    - Concurrent server connections are defined as low or too high , which causes slow performance . Restore settings simultaneous connections of Internet Explorer with default values ​​.

     


    - The pop- ups are disabled, allowing screens popup . Enable Pop- ups .


    Resets the security settings of Internet Explorer to default levels ( recommended ) .

     


    - Enable the Phishing Filter .

     


    - Enable Data Execution Prevention for Internet Explorer

    Hi Leonardo, Hi Tanya,

    Thanks Leo for sharing your solution. i did try your workaround but i still can reproduce the ie crash.

    I did create a minor stress test in order to produce the ie crash, the test is simple:

    1. make dbclick on desktop shortcut "EADStarter_dev-conti" (which is a http jnlp starter)

    2. check that login mask object is invoked by using property checkpoint with "Visible"

    3. terminate all opened processes (javaw, iexplore)

    4. repeat step1-3 serious times



    as you see, this "iexplore.exe process crashed" happens quite often, in additional information i received "Exception code: 0x0000005", i did google this exception and i found out that it could be caused by some java web starter memory corruption. 

    I really need some help to get rid of this crash exception, it can neither be captured by error handler nor exception handler of testcomplete script. 

    is that possible to disable such failure report in the log? acutally my tests are working fine without any issue but this crash in log report.

    Please somebody help me to find a solution.

    BTW, here are my system info:

    - VM with Win7 Professional 32bit OS

    - 4g RAM, 2.4GHz

    - java 1.7.0_40

    - TC 9.31 / TE 9.0

    Hi Simon Hi Leo,

    Thanks for your reply, I hope it is not issue of different TC/TE version. there are both ver.9, and it did not cause any issue until now. But you are right, I will upgrade TC9 to TC9.31.

    And my browser is  ie10, and I have to remain by ie10 due to our software development specification.

    Dear all,

    If this crash log keeps happening in my tests and no one else has such issue as I do, can somebody maybe provide me a workaround to avoid this error report? e.g. downgrading level 'error' to 'warning' or 'information', is there an project option for that?
