- barbaraeStaffHi Bob,
You'll find information about integrating TestComplete with SoftwarePlanner here -
Here's a User's Guide: http://www.softwareplanner.com/UsersGuide_TC.pdf
And a video demonstration: http://www.softwareplanner.com/GuidedTours/EdgeUI/Camtasia.asp?FileName=SPTCIntegration_Overview
Hope these help! - bromeijn001Occasional ContributorHi, Watched the demo, looked at the documents, but what do I need to install where?
There is an Automatedtestingbridgeremotedatasetup and there is a automatedtestingbridgesetup - barbaraeStaffHi Bob -
The automation bridge utilities belong on the desktop where TestComplete / TestExecute reside, and SoftwarePlanner belongs on it's server.
If you still have questions, our support team would be happy to help - just click on Help Center in SoftwarePlanner and look for the Create Support Ticket link.
Thanks! - bromeijn001Occasional ContributorHello Barbara, my apologies for not understanding it immediately but I was under the impression that TestComplete could be placed on a server, just like SWP, that's what we did.
Does my team need to install TestComplete AND TestExecute on their laptop AND install Automatedtestingbridgeremotedatasetup and automatedtestingbridgesetup on their laptop also?
Again my apologies but I need some clear guidance on how to make this work. - barbaraeStaffHi Bob -
I'll have to defer to the TestComplete team about TestComplete and TestExecute installation. I know you can put either on a remote machine that you users can connect to build and run their TestComplete project suites. Once they help you with the TestComplete / Test Execute setup, then we can get back to the SoftwarePlanner side.
Hi TestComplete Team -
This user has questions on installing and using TestComplete vs installing and using TestExecute. Could you take a look and let him know about installation / configuration?
Thanks! - Hi Bob,
You need to install TestComplete or TestExecute on the machine where your tests
will be performed. If you need to create or edit your tests on this machine as
well as play them back, you need to install TestComplete. However, if you just
want to execute tests on this machine, you can install TestExecute only. - bromeijn001Occasional Contributorthanks for the reply. but my issue is:
i have a server where software planner, test complete and testexecute are installed.
on that server i store the testprojects.
with testexecute on our laptops we want to use the projects on the server.
for that we need the automationbridge. we installed that on the server and adjusted it according the documentation.
when we use the application and the bridge comes up we enter the webservice adres, username and password as know in the software planner, check the "active" button and when we click "loadprojects" nothing happens and after a few seconds a message comes up "something went wrong..."
when i leave "active" unchecked it works, i can load projects run them, but then the results wont show up in the softwareplanner.
Hi Bob,
Can you start TestComplete or TestExecute on the server and execute a test in them manually?- bromeijn001Occasional ContributorHello David,
Local running is not an issue, the collaboration with the bridge is not working
On the server it self I now have it sort of working; I made a mistake there to select the wrong shared drive.
After changing that I could load the projects and via the softwareplanner schedule a test. However...when selecting "automation runs" the message in de screen
shows. I had that previously also with adding an automation task, but
that's solved.
I still can't get the softwareplanner registration to work on my laptop in order for me to acces the network stored projects.
Screenshot "with active" is how it should work (on the server is does)
Screenshot "without active" does work but results dont show up in software planner - bromeijn001Occasional ContributorDavid
Please ignore the automation run issue...
