Testcomplete not detecting the Javascript Alert on Edge

Hello Everyone,

 

Testcomplete not detecting the Javascript Alert on Edge, we are using Edge version 116.0.1938.54, previously it used to work with lower version but when I updated, the alert is not detecting with Object Spy, I even checked in Object Browser as well but only the page is visible but not the alert.

 

Usually when the alert popped up, under page("...."), there is another object with "Alert", after browser version update, unable to get that alert object.

 

Could you please check this issue and let do the needful.

    Let say for example, for every one month browser version is updating and again same for every 2-3 months TestComplete version is also updating. It is not reliable method to update each time and please note that if it is local machine we could easily update whatever we want. But in an organization with restricted environment it is not easy to update everytime. 

     

    I will not say that these pop ups are so easy to implement from your side, but if you take Selenium most of the pop ups are works fine irrespective of the browser.

     

    I don't know why even though I clearly explained in this forum what I needed and what kind of issue I am facing, it didn't helped me, unless you people are asking us to try the alternative way but not the exact correct way which is mentioned in the TestComplete documentation.

     

    It would be great that you could explain why these pop ups are not working for latest browser version.

      It's very annoying indeed. And they said that would do better with supporting after that issues back with Chromium 113 or 114. Their documentation still says they only fully support up to 114 and I have been on 117 for a while now.  I don't understand.

    Works fine in Microsoft Edge Version 115.0.1901.203 (Official build) (64-bit).

     

    Is the Object Spy tool able to identify the buttons of 'Show Alert', 'Show Prompt' and 'Show Confirm' ?

      no, object spy tool unable to identify the buttons. If the alert is shown, this is the hierarchy in the object browser.

      Page(....)--->Alert(...)--->Button("OK")

      But I don't know why it is not showing this time.

      yes, we are using TestComplete in remote machines. So what is the solution we need to downgrade the web browser ?

    Using your local machine to identify UI controls on an application hosted on a VM, may not work correctly. Same applies having TC on a remote machine, it may not work correctly.

      But it worked before, after updating the browser only we got this issue. We installed TestComplete in remote machines, we have proper license type. I don't think it will differ from local machine and VM's.

      no, for pop-ups and alerts v116 of Edge is not supported by TC.

    Newer browser versions always seem to break this.  I'm not on 116 yet but hopefully they can fully support it soon.  They did mention a while back they were going to be better with supporting browser version updates

    Is there any other solution to overcome this browser popup issue on newest browser version, and why this popups are not working, because we are facing issues with it very often, Edge is automatically upgrading by itself and we cannot downgrade Edge version.
