Objects getting failed in a Keyword test because of Name Mapping structure keep on updating

Hi All,

I am using Test Complete tool from last couple of months, could someone help with this issue.

The scenario is such, create a record, update it and delete; to create a record we are not facing any issue but when performing the update objects getting failed, if we try to update the failed elements it is creating new Name mapping folder/structure again in the playback it getting failed if we try update the objects it is creating another Name mapping folder/structure but Delete functionality working fine.

please refer the below screenshot for Name mapping structure.

If we tried update the failed object it will create another folder/container with pageUpdate TheDatasource3

Hear Name mapping structure keep on updating basically it is changing Dynamically, could you please help me to resolve the issue.

Eg:

While recording the scenario Name mapping folder/structure name - ABC

when we try to update the failed objects updated Name mapping folder/structure name - ABC2

if we try to update the failed objects again then updated Name mapping folder/structure name - ABC3

Note: After updating the objects on each playback, it updated related objects getting failed.

Hi Raghunandanits, what attributes are in the properties section for targeting the element?
It is likely that you have an attribute selected where the value changes each time the application is run. I have had this happen many times and it causes exactly what you're seeing as it thinks it's a separate element.

  These are the properties from the object browser, could you please have a look at it.
  
  It is in Basic view.
  
  Above are the screenshots related to the advance view of properties, if it is not correct, please let me know how to check with attributes in the properties section of the targeted element.
  if it is correct please let me know the steps to resolve the issue.

  I am able to resolve the issue with the Wildcards, thank you so much.
  if we can above screenshot, whenever we update the failed object, it's creating new Name mapping folder right in the URL section we observed that it is changing so handled it with the Wildcard which resolve the issue.

    If the UI object doesn't have a unique property ID, TestComplete will refer to another property, and will not know if that property value will change. Hence, when doing record and playback, it will create duplicates. The only way to stop this, is to use appropriate property values that can "uniquely" identify the UI object. Which TestComplete will use this criteria to search and interact with the UI object.
    
    I found that building the mapped objects tree from knowing what UI objects I'll be interacting with, is much better than relying on the record and playback, if you don't have unique IDs.

Hello,

Definitely it looks like the application is using dynamic property values that keeps on changing on each use, you will need to map each node in the tree structure starting from top to bottom manually by selecting properties that contains consistent value and probably also use the wild card * https://support.smartbear.com/testcomplete/docs/testing-with/object-identification/name-mapping/basic-mapping-criteria.html
