- HalOccasional ContributorI was hoping others are also using Team Foundation Server as Source Control.
After the initial check in to TFS, now working with any item in the project suite is very difficult as when I right click and check out the item I want to work with, TestComplete goes to not responding mode and it takes a good 5 minutes to come out of it.
I have also realised the %processor time goes through the roof. TestComplete is the only application working on this machine and there is lots of memory for it to consume. the project size is under a gig so I am in total loss here!!!
Has anybody else experience the same behaviour? - tristaanogreEsteemed ContributorI'm using TFS as source control here with TestComplete and I'm not experiencing the problem you are.
I'm using TC 8.5... have you tried upgrading to see if the problem is corrected? - HalOccasional ContributorHi there Robert,
We have upgraded to TestComplete 8.5 the problem still resides.
Every request for either check in or check out takes the CPU to hault as well as every time I run a test.
I have 4G RAM on this machine with near 13G of free physical space. We have a floating license which the license manager is somewhere in the network ( I doubt this would be the source of the problem, but hey I am not sure now!).
I have faced the same problem when working on another machine. What gets me is that when I check in or out it shows up in source control and at the same time testcomplete is not responding.
If I unbind it from source control everything goes back to its normal self!!!
Is there a special thing I have to do here? Like I check out tests I need by right clicking on them and then choose check out! - tristaanogreEsteemed ContributorWhat version of the TFS MSSCCI provider do you have installed? I'm currently using 3.0.30423.0.
My machine is actually a lesser box than yours... It's only a 2.4 GHz Core 2 Duo with 2 GB of RAM. I have more drive space than you do, but that shouldn't be a factor. - HalOccasional ContributorHi Robert,
I am using the same version as yours. along with microsoft team system 2010. - tristaanogreEsteemed ContributorThe problem may not be TC but might actually be a performance problem on the machine hosting TFS or on your network... at least, that's my current working theory. As mentioned above, I'm not experience the problem using TFS 2010 and TC 8.5 on a Windows XP SP3 box speced out as above.
- HalOccasional ContributorThat was my thought exactly then I checked out a test while TestComplete was out of commission! I have looked at my source control and it was showing that my username has checked out that test for edit. This was done quite quickly.
Even opening the project is taking significanlty longer than it used to.
I have checked this on 3 different machines including virtual machines and a desktop.
On TFS note, I have draged and droped few items from windows explorer to source control explorer and it goes it like a charm and we are using the TFS for other projects with no problem. - HalOccasional ContributorI fixed it!!!!!!! All those recorded images from earlier tests were the actual problem in the first place. Then I went ahead and deleted them but they still had a reference somewhere. Unbinded the project from TFS deleted the images, binded it back again superb!!
It's been a while since I record tests so I totally forgot about those images. The project size is significantly shrunk.
Thanks Robert for all your help and support mate, much appreciate it. - tristaanogreEsteemed ContributorThat would be it. I don't typically use the Visualizer unless I'm debugging on playback.
Glad it's working for you and that I was able to help a little bit.
