Hi,I'm trying to find a way to determine if some labels are showing its content properly (all the content visible).For example in a grid header I'd like to test if the label is shown completely or if its truncated (shrinked).Ex: (correct)|Status|| || || |as oposed to: (fail to display the whole word)|Stat|| || || |I tried VisibleOnScreen but it doesn't fail on shrinked labels since they are partially visible.Cheers,Leandro

Hi Leandro, Try exploring properties available for this object in the Object Browser to find the one that returns the displayed value. To see all properties, make sure that the Advanced View mode is active and showing hidden members is enabled. Refer to the "Basic and Advanced View Modes" article for details. Another way is to check the width of the label.

Hi Tanya,Nor the 'displayed value' property (which doesn't exist) or the width property helped me in this case.The idea is to control wether a label content is being shown completely.For example: the English date would be: "Thursday 6 November 2014" (24 chars) the German date would be: "Donnerstag 6. November 2014" (27 chars, google translate sorry if wrong) and the French date would be: "Jeudi 6 Novembre 2014" (21 chars, again google translate)and so on (there's also Spanish, Portuguese one more I can't recall now)The idea is to make sure all of them are readable (not trimmed), does it make sense?It also applies to tooltips, button names, column headers, etc.Thank you,Leandro

Hi Leandro,

Another way is to check the width of the label.

Exactly,

so when the value is "Thursday 6 November 2014" sometimes it gets truncated and shows only "Thursday 6 No" ( or any other lenght)

The idea is to test that by default the whole lenght of the label is being shown (in any language). Then users might modify it, but it doesn't really matter to me and my testing purposes.

Could you use different DBTables and have EnglishTable and GermanTable and FrenchTable stored with the correct values and then do a Database Table Checkpoint to check for problems?

Sounds like one of many valid solutions for checking the content of the label (the text itself) but not to ensure the whole text is being displayed.

Does it make sense?

Are you trying to do this for variable dates or can you set up the data so you always know what the date is when you are testing?

In most cases the content is fixed, but due to different languages (different string length) it's tricky do do it.

The content sometimes is variable, like dates as you mentioned.
