Test Execute on Windows 8.1 Preview
We are attempting to run our tests on the Windows 8.1 Preview. However, the installation for Test Execute crashes the system during the "Configuring the Sentinel HASP License Manager" step....

Those instructions seem to indicate a hardware key of some sort:
9. Connect the HASP key and see the led is on. It may blink a while and then should glow constantly.
Since we don't have one of those, I don't see any point in following the directions.
The licensing of TestComplete and TestExecute cause us more issues than any other software product we use. It is quite painful to deal with licensing issues when we just want to use the software to get the job done. I really encourage SmartBear to look at other options for license control.
