object exist but isnt visible on screen

Without knowing the application type (.NET, WPF, Java ect) and the type of the grid control used there, it's difficult to answer definitely.



The general answer is: TestComplete provides specialized support for many standard and third-party grid controls. If the grid in question is a supported one, then, for example, you can use table checkpoints to verify data in the entire grid, including invisible rows. You can also determine the total number of the grid rows using the wRowCount property, get cell values (including invisible cells) using the wValue property and so on. Also, when performing grid UI operations such as ClickCell, TestComplete takes care of grid scrolling automatically, so you don't have to manually handle scrolling in your tests.

If not, then please post here some more details about your tested application and grid, such as the grid's class name and vendor, a screenshot of the grid in your tested app and in the Object Browser so that we could come up with more specific advice.

My app's type is .NET.



When I try to use table checkpoint master says:

 The selected object has no data to store. Possible causes:

* the selected object is not supported by table checkpoints (it has data!!)

* the selected object is not a tabular control.... (it is a tble Im sure!!)



I can get a count of rows, and use the count in cycle: for(i=0; i<count_of_rows; i++)

... but when the cycle faced the row not visible on screen error happens(



Grid have no properties named w*** like wValue.

I use row property: Sys.Process("OptionsWorkshop").WPFObject("HwndSource: MainForm").WPFObject("MainForm").WPFObject("DockPanel", "", 1).WPFObject("DockingManager").WPFObject("rpMain").WPFObject("rpTop").WPFObject("documentPane").WPFObject("OptionsSeriesDesk", "", 1).WPFObject("Grid", "", 1).WPFObject("dataGrid1").WPFObject("DataGridRow", "", 1).DataContext.<name_of_column> - contain a value.

What is the ClrFullClassName property value of the WPFObject("Grid", "", 1), WPFObject("dataGrid1") and WPFObject("DataGridRow", "", 1) objects?

1) WPFObject("dataGrid1") has ClrFullClassName = OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGrid



2) WPFObject("DataGridRow", "", 1)  has ClrFullClassName = System.Windows.Controls.DataGridRow



3) I cant find the object WPFObject("Grid", "", 1) on screen.

OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGrid isn't a standard grid, but a custom grid implemented by the application developers; that's why, table checkpoints don't work for it. However, this grid may be based on standard WPF DataGrid, which is supported by TestComplete, so you can try instructing TestComplete to treat your custom grid as a standard supported grid. To do this:

* Go to Tools > Current Project Properties > Object Mapping.

* Select the Microsoft Controls > WPFToolkitDataGrid item.

* Add OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGrid to the list of class names, and select the Enabled check box.

* Save your project.



After that, examine the WPFObject("dataGrid1") object in the Object Browser or Object Spy - now, does it have extended properties such as wRowCount, wColumnCount, wValue(row, column)? If it does, do they return correct values?

Also, does it work now if you try to create a table checkpoint for the grid?

... but I faced another problem further:

The first row contains column names like "Theta" other rows contains numbers.

I have choosen columns to be stored  but TC says: "unable to create checkpoint, because the following column has an unsupported data type" about "theta"... is alphabetic names allowed?

Please post here a screenshot of your grid and mark the column that was specified in the error message you got in the table checkpoint wizard.



Also, please select the WPFObject("dataGrid1") object in the Object Browser and note down the Columns.Item(<index>).ClrFullClassName property value for each column index (from 0 to wColumnCount-1). Post these values here and I'll see what might be wrong.

To tell the truth, this error happens for erery column header. It isnt depend on column number... it depend on data type of  headers, I guess.

You can see it on grid.png, there are other column, named "bid".



...you can see on 2grid.png WPFObject("dataGrid1") has yellow border, and WPFObject("dataGrid1") has red border.



Columns.Item(<index>).ClrFullClassName = OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGridTextColumn for each column of WPFObject("dataGrid1").

Probably, you just need to map the OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGridTextColumn column type to a standard column type, like you previously did for the grid itself. So, try the following:

* Go to Tools > Current Project Properties > Object Mapping.

* Select the Microsoft Controls > WPFToolkitDataGrid > TextColumn item.

* Add OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGridTextColumn to the list of class names, and select the Enabled check box.

* Save your project.

OK)) I have added Add OptionsWorkshop.Common.UI.DeskDataGridTextColumn to map! You help me very much. Now I'm able to create table checkpoint.



This "Tables.Table2.Check();" is all info about checkpoint...? What comparation happens here? With what is table values compared? With values stored in TC? Our tables have changing values, and I need to parametrize code of checkpoint to get the result. Is it possible to get inside the checkpoint and change comparation rules? ...or table checkpoints invariable?
