not able to spy on object in read only mode

So i noticed that Testcomplete object spy can't point to screen if the Desktop screen is in read only mode. is there an alternative or am i missing something here?   Note:- Don't tell me to pick o...

What do you mean by desktop read only mode?

    it is an desktop application 

    and one of the values in the page is always in read only/ view mode

    when I am pointing object spy tool to that object it doesn't recognise it.
